We had 5 hours to experience Ft Lauderdale before we were due at the airport. This enabled us to take a sightseeing/shuttle-to-the-airport combo-excursion and explore this port city.
At our first stop, we took a boat ride around the harbors of Ft Lauderdale and Bahia del Mar, the “Venice of Florida”. Bahia del Mar’s line-up of multi-million dollar palaces/villas (~$50 mil) and yachts (~$300 mil), showcased the mega-rich lifestyle. One thing is to hear/know how some people can be (unreasonably) rich. Another is to see/witness HOW MUCH! Please see below photos and video to get a hint.
We were then taken to Las Olas Blvd, a famous shopping strip for the ‘rich and famous’. High-end stores and eateries abounded. We patronized an Italian confectionary store, Pan’e Dolci and treated ourselves to my favorite ‘lobster tail’!!!

Sfogliatelle (called lobster-tail in USA),
means “many leaves/layers,” is a clam-shaped pastry filled with a sweetened ricotta and semolina mixture surrounded by a flaky, crunch shell. Its origin is from the monastery of Santa Rosa in Conca dei Marini in the province of Salerno, Italy, in the 18th century.

It was a superb conclusion to our 14-day trip!

It sounds like you had a great trip. Ft. Lauderdale is a fun town, we usually spend a few days there each year when we visit our children who live in the area.
Yes, what a beautiful area. I would like to spend more time there, next time we pass there.
Lobster tail > bear claw! Where oh where are you off to next, Fae? I want to live vicariously via you.
Ooo~, the lobster-tail was so~ good. Travel when you are young, and travel more when you are retired!
)))
Yes, FL does collect the wealthy. The weather, the beaches, or the zero income tax? Perhaps all of the above?
Oh, I did not know about ‘zero income tax’! That explains many things.
Wow! Ultra beautiful! Can’t even imagine living so lush, but wouldn’t mind trying it on for size! Thanks for sharing!
What a wonderful post!!! We always flake in FL for a couple of days pre-cruise at Lago Mar. Fun & 1980ish. Love this series on your cruise Fae~
We will do the same next time!
I see you have been going places and having a marvelous time! It is a treat for me to share these happy moments with you.
Hugs, Sharon
WELCOME HOME!!! Dearest Sharon!

What a pleasant surprise to see your note! I am glad that you and your little one are back to your routine. I was thinking about you and missing you. {{hug}} Fae.
Beautiful. Can’t wait to visit one day. Love all the photos and vids.
Fae, a place I have actually been to! I love Fort Lauderdale
It is not a long drive for me either for a weekend trip!
Yum on the video!
I thought Ft Lauderdale was just a port city… oh boy, was I wrong! It is a beautiful and interesting city, to say the least! Wow!
