Looking through the Cenotaph, you see the structure housing the Flame of Peace, which will burn in Hiroshima until nuclear weapons no longer exist anywhere on earth.

Alex visited Hiroshima before we met but we didn’t visit together on our 2007 trip to Japan. We will be in Japan again in October/November this year and visiting Hiroshima together this time.

John Lennon sang about it, church leaders pray for it, I think about it. Man has always been a selfish and warlike creature. Politicians will forever dream up reasons to destroy their neighbors. “They have OUR Oil” or “They occupy OUR promised land” or “They are like animals, they must die.” As long as there is greed, there will be war.
