Since our dear friend, Naomi informed/introduced us to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Sites, Michael and I had a theme for our travel planning. If the world has recognized these sites as our cultural and natural sites, these sites are noteworthy and should be included on anyone’s bucket list. Since 2007, we have covered numerous sites and are planning to visit more.

Our trips to these sites alone can fill an entire blog site. However, I am more than just about travelling. Periodically in my blog, I would like to introduce sites which are so beautiful… a feast to the eyes, inspirationally rich in history and for knowledge. Sites are superb but the best part of all is meeting local people who are proud of their heritage and protecting the sites. And if opportunities arise where we can break bread (so to speak) with them at a dining table to enjoying their food, it is optimum.

Mark Twain said it best, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”

I was told that blog readers ‘really’ have a concentration span of 10 seconds to view a post. As much as I enjoy reading fascinating posts, my patience span is pretty short as well. I only dwell on those delicious photos of desserts. Maybe that is why the ‘photography’ blogs are so popular! “A picture is worth a thousand words”. Hence, I will include many photos/media and try to minimize words to short captions and let the reader imagine the thousand words (per photo)!

Most of the photos you see are mine, except ones which are humanly impossible to take by an amateur.
All birds-eye-view photos and the interior of establishments which forbid photography are from wonderful internet photo pulls. I will credit the photos for which I know the source, but if not, oh well!

I already covered Machu Picchu, a location which is on everyone’s travel wish list.  You may have visited many of the Heritage Sites I cover but some may be refreshingly new to you. I will try to find related film clips (Thanks to Youtube!) to make your little more than 10 second journey more entertaining!
